There are about 40 delegates in attendance’ at the meetings of the! synod, being held in the Presbyter- ian church of Delaware street and 20 at the synodical mecting of the Wo- men’s Missionary society which is being held simultaneeusly at the Baptist church. At the opening session which was held last evening, Rev. George H. Lowrie of Laramic was elected mod- erator and Rev. Walter H. Bradley of Casper clerk of this synod. Rev. H. W. Bainton was zppointed to act as temporary clerk of this synod. At this morning’s session, follow- ing the devotional service Dr. Brad- ley read his report as clerk and treas- urer of the synod for the past year, the report of the trustees of the sy-. nod was submitted, the committee on rules submited 2 report recom- mending a number of changes in sy- nodical procedure, and the commit- tee on home missions gave a most in- teresting report . The reports showed that of the 49 churches in Wyoming, 30 are under the home mission board and 22 of the 45 pastors are sent out as missionar- ies by the board . The synod and the Woman’s Sy- nodical Society contributed $1,003.71 to the board last year . Hillsdale and Powell, which had | been missions, became self support- ing churches last year and were plac- ed on the honor roll. The church membership in the state was reported as 2,291 last year a decrease of 122 over the preceding year, partially accounted for by loss- es from the influenza epidemic. The committee reported’ the en- gaging of Rev. David McMartin of Leadville, Colo., in August as synod- ical missionary. Mr. McMartin was the synod together with assurances of hearty support from all the minis- ters in his work. He will travel over the entire state, visiting and encour- aging the organized, churches and { missions end starting new missions to be found.
