0 FARM UNITS ARE READY IN POWELL TRAGT Will Be Opened to Entry October 9; Water Right Application and Five Per Cent of Cost Required On October 9, at 9 a. m., the sec- retary of the interior will open to entry at Powell, Wyo., a tract of land containing 79 farm units in the Shoshoni irrigation project. The ir- rigation system has been construct- ed and water will be available for preparing the land this fall. In ler to file on one of these farms it is necessary to execute a water right application upon a form provided for that purpose, and to de- posit therewith five per cent of the construction charge, which has been fixed at $90 per irrigable acre. Such| water right applications may be filed with the Project Manager of the U. S. Reclamation Service in person, by mail, or otherwise, within a period of five days beginning October 4, 1919, to and including 9 a. m., Oc- tober 9. Where there are two or more wa- ter applications for the same farm unit a drawing will be held to determine the successful appli- cant. Unsuccessful applicants will have their deposits promptly return- ed. The remainder of the construc- tion charge must be paid in fifteen annual installments, the first of which shall become due and payable December 1, 1924. Shoshoni project mbraces bout 150,! ,900 acres in northwestern Wyoming i in a region of great scenic beauty and healthful climate. More than 33,000 acres included in 624 farms are now in cultivation and in 1918 produced a crop valued at $1,- 370,000. Numerous transfers have been made at prices ranging from $200 to $300 per acre for improved ranches. General farming, _live- stock raising, kets are the local towns of the pro- ject, Billing: ys, Montana; Omaha, and Sioux City. Excellent transportation facilities are furnished by the C. B. & Q. railway main line and branches, which extend paul Croushout the project. Granting that there will be un-! favorable votes from sixty-seven of the ‘new members, the mesure would | pass by a vote of 224 to 168° If the forty-two “holdover” con- gressmen who did not exercise their} vote in the last session decide to do} so this time it is fair to presume that this vote may be split fifty-fifty, giv- ing the meastre a total of 246 | vorable ballots, as against 184 un- favorable. To put the measure in the worst light possible it could not fail of pass- sage if 90 per cent of those who did not vote lust time changed their minds and lined up with the oppo- sition. In that event, the measure would curry by 228 votes 12 201. It would require a com of sentiment th beat the and this is entirely unlikely. The leasing meusure is now in the | hands of the house public lands com- mitte, and there are reports from Washington which indicaft that it is sure to pass. —Wyoming Oil News. ~_— W McKim, president of the Cow Gant Oil company, has returned from an extended business trip Co} 2. lete switch | asing bill,| CHIROPRACTORS Suite 2, Townsend Bldg.
