'Professor Duerpfeld, one of the mgst eminent archaeologists of Germany, ‘chme to join the Hohenzollern cir. cle a month or so ago and since his! arrival has spent several hours almost ‘every afternoon in his former mon- arch’s company. * Every phase of archaeological re-| search is discussed during these con- versations, in the course of which (the professor entertains the exile with details of the discoveries made by him and his companions in Pal- estine, Syria and other sections ov ‘tthe Near East. The professor is an old companion of Hohenzollern with | whom he spent some, time on the Island of Corfu, where the one-time German ruler owned the Castle or Achilleion. Even at the dinner table archue- ology is now the main subject of con- versation, for reference to the War js ‘tacitly taboo when the erstwhile Emperor and his consort join the family circle of the Bentincks. On these occasions both Hohenzollern and his immediate suite, including the body physician, Dr. Foerster ans Professor Duerpfeld, wear military uniforms. The Bentincks, although some of the members of the family ‘have though it right to wear uni- forms, always appear in civilian dress. At present the entire suite except the Marshal of the Court, Von Gon- tard, reside outside the castle either ‘in the village inns or in rented cot- tages. All of them have full liberty of movement about Holland, but their appearance passes entirely unnoticed, as they never travel in uniform. os ° Friday is an unlucky day in Cas- per for motor drivers. Yesterday the Police added one more to its toll of those who violate the city traffic or- dinances. Harvey Wagner turned his car without going to the end of the block when he was driving in the fitst block on South Center street. He was fined $5. cases, With the arrest of Pete Burrill at Rock Springs, Sunday, the police! |seized the largest amount of smok-| jing opium ever confiscated in one jraid in this district according to A. |G. Dingley, ugent in charge of inter- nal revenue investigations in this dis- trict. Seventy-one cans of the drug: valued at $5,000, were found at Bur. |rill’s home, when Sheriff George Par- fitt arrested him. CREEL FORTUNE FOUND BY WORKMEN CLEANING QUT FEDERAL OFFICE | | | | MEXICO CITY, (Correspondence| f the Associated Press.)—When | representatives of the famous Creel family of Chihuahua recently appear- | ed before the government officials! here with requests for information| regarding the whereabouts of min-! ‘ing, railway and other valuable stock | valued at close to 2,000,000 pesos, ! they were astonished to learn that| the stock, as well as about 2,000,-| 000 pesos in paper money, was held | by the national treasury for identi-| fication of ownership and that it) had only been discovered a few months ago. According to published accounts, workmen, while cleaning out a spare rgom in the building used by the fed-| eral district government, found aj score of locked boxes which contain- | ed the paper money and _ shares.| Neither the governor of the federal district, General Alfredo Breceda,| nor the district court, after guarded | investigations, could determine who| owned the treasure, so it was turned | over in trust to the national treasury. | The theory is that, during the firs: revolutionary troubles which resulted in the downfall of Porfirio Dias, the | boxes were sent from Chihuahua to a private residence of the Creels here and that, when the Zapatistas first! entered Mexico City, they | were arid a valuable collection of jewels }also were being sought, but of these easily realizable riches, no trace has been discovered.
