This means that the appropriations com- mittees will consider the different plans and will aet favorably on the best ovoposition and the most prac- | tien, 2 one. | ere ha: been mich talk about | a?) investigation: hv = -ommission in| order to arrive at a good workable | budget system. While this plan has | merit, it tends to delay enactment of | a much needed law. For this reason, with the country pressing for inau- guration of methods of economy, the feeling is steadily growing that a law ought to be worked out as quick- ly as feasible. Senator Kenyon, who has beer one of the most active ex- ponents of the idea of a budget sys- | tem, said today he had coneludea not to press his resolution for an investigation into the budget system, with a report on the best method of forming one. ‘The demand for im. mediate action is great,” said Sena- tor Kenyon. “The time. for investi- gation is past and the time for ac- tion has arrived.” Many practical difficulties are pre- sented in the path of the enactment of a workable budget system. Such a system means, of course, a system- atic, co-ordinated scheme for dealing | with <cl appropriations and expendi- tures for the government. It is easy to talk about the need for a budget system but not easy to perfect one. | It would be idle to think of congress giving up its power over the purse! strings. Everybody knows t hat} it is not so much congress as the de-| partment officials that are continu-| ously pressing for more money. How | to leave congress its power and yet prevent logrolling for appropriations is not an easy task. NEW TANLAC PLANT IS NOW COMPLETED t and senate leaders have talked mat-| | | Magnificent New Laboratory Has) Daily Capacity of 36,000 Bottless What is said to be one of the larg-| est pharmaceutical laboratories in the | United States has been completed at Dayton, Ohio, for the manufacture of Tanlac, the well-known medicine, which, according to recent reports, is now having the largest. sale of any| medicine of its kind in the world. | The erection of the new plant was made necessary by the rapid growth of the business, as the older plant was found to be wholly inadequate to supply the ever-increasing demand which at the present rate of sale will amount to more than five million bottles for the present year alone. By the erection of this plant the manufacturers of Tanlac are giving to the world just one more evidence of the remarkable growth and ex- pansion of their business, and of their absolute confidence in its future. This announcement will be read with interest not only by the many thousands of Tanlac agents scattered thruout every state of the Union and thruout Canada, but to the mil- lions who have used it beneficially as well. The new building occupies 60,000 Square feet of floor space. {t is six stories in height, practically fire- Proof thruout, and is of striking ar- ehitectural design. It alsa has pri- vate railway facilities. This beautiful new stracture’ now stands in striking contrast beside the older building where Tanlac was first, made. Visitors to the laboratories are strongly impressed with the extreme: | ly modern character of the equip- | ment. Everything is provided and splendidly arranged te promote sys- tematic and rapid production. The very latest machinery and devices | known to invention and pharmacen- | tical science are here used. | The interior thruout is finished in spotless white, and all of the large, force of employes wear white uni- forms, which they are required to change daily. The main offices on the first floor are all finished in Carara marble and mak»gany. i The entire process of manufacture | is econdueted under absolutely sani- | tary conditions. Even the bottles | made expressly to contain Tanlac are | washed and sterilized electrically by the ultra violet ray process.
