The American Red Cross wants { distribute $9,688 in Wyoming. Now don’t eroewd! Let’s see firs; you are the sort of a person yon whom the Red Cross wishes to bestiy, some of this little fortune. First let it be understood what this $9,688 consists of. It reprisent, allotments made by U. 8. soldiers favor of wives, mothers fathers other relatives, supplemented by poy. ernment allowances. Some of those who made these allotments will never return. Others, more fortunate, arp still in service or on their way ou In Wyoming there are 211 families and individuals who are totally up. aware that the Red Cross wishes ty present them with checks running high as $200. These checks signed by Uncle Sam who h§s asked the Red Cross to locate, thru its omnipresent home seryice sections, the persons to whom they run. Being unaware of the widespre activities of the home service depart. ment of the Red Cross scores of the very persons in Wyoming for whom these government checks were issuci, are probably peeing right by the offices of the home service in their respective communities. Home service representatives in Wyoming have received word from Washington that the governm bureau of war risk insurance, thru ‘which checks of this kind are issued, has 50,000 unclaimed checks. Of 13,000 cases referred to it the Red Cross, up to May 1, had located the owners of 9,700 checks. Thrusting government checks on ‘unsuspecting persons is not the only function of the home seryice depart- ment of the Red Crogs, however. No matter what the need of a soldier or ‘This family, the Red Cross will meet it thru the home service section, Per- haps there are persons in this com- munity upon whom the Red Cross would take delight in bestowing a good old government check or ren- dering other service. BILLINGS BUSINESSMEN TO VISIT BASIN RECON ON BIG TRADE SPECIL BILLINGS, Mont., June 4,—Two jf hundred or more Billings boosters will be included in a trade excursion tour of the Big Horn basin the Jast week in June, The excursion is be- ing arranged by Secretary Robt Elting and other officers and mem- bers of the Billings-Midland club. Th: trip will consume four or five days. The party probably will travel in chartered cars. Representatives of every wholesale and distributing ageney in the city and delegates from many of the re- tail concerns will be included among the plans. The first stop will be made at Laurel, The party will then proceed south on the Thermopolis linc, branching. off at Frannia to visit Powell and Cody, then returning to Frannie and stopping at every town / from there to Thermopolis. At the latter city the excursionists will par- ticipate in the celebration planned for June 27, 28 and 29, when a fitting farewell will be bade the last days of the “wild and wooly” west and John Barleycorn. The Billings band‘ now in process of organization, it is expected will be in trim to appear in concert by the time the excursionists are ready to “hop off.”’ If the band is not in prac- tice by that time, a fife and drum corps or other noise-making aggresa- tion will be whipped into shape to a company the boosters. This will be the first trade excu sion of Billings representatives since 1916, when a delegation visited Car bon and Stillwater counties and northern Wyoming points by auto- mobile. WORLD'S BIG VOLCANO 15 SEEN IN FILM PLAY Will the audience that see “Kil- auea’s Lakes of Fire’ at the Ir theater today react to the film in the same way? They will see the great liquid ex- banse of the world’s largest active volcano, as it has never been shown before. And they will see it with « news interest, too, for regent cables from Hawaii have reported the vol- cano in troublesome activity again. Some of the pictures of this great seething mass of lava were taken so near the volcano that the ¢ameraman and his camera both had to be pro- tected jwith speciallysmade masks. Other parts of the film were taken |at night by the weird light of the [volcano itself, . Two things about the new picture |rre said to be particularly notable— jj ‘the photographing and reproduction ‘of blends and tints of colors not dis- cernible to the ordinary eye, and the | remarkable depth of perspective ob- tained. 3
