At the invitation of Mayor Leeper, Commissioners Veitch and Griffith attended the council meeting last night for the purpose of informally discussing a proposed improvement -° district to be established by the city on East First street. On account of the low valuation on lots in the vicinity of the stock- yards, Mayor Leeper believed that the county officials in some way might assist the city in paving that district so 2s to make the cost to the property owners as low as poss- ible. The commim ners agreed to co-operate with the city in any way possible, but declined to do any work within the city limits. How- ever, they agreed that if the city paved that portion of the city, they would meet the paving with a rolled gravel road and carry the work to a distance of abopt two miles, prob- . ably to the Stroud ranch, making an excellent highway all the way from the county line to the paved streets of the city. DUBOIS NOT TO WAIT ON STATE HATCHERY FUND RIVERTON, N, May 2.—The new fish hatchery at Dubois, this county, will be opened up either late this spring or early this summer. Hon. J. a trip to Dubois by auto this week, accompanied by W. T. Judkins, state game warden, and P. C. Spencer, secretary of the club. Following a conference with business men that town it was decided to build the hatchery at once, even the state funds for its construction will not be available until July 1. The money will be advanced by Riv- erton and Dubois interests. The hatchery was provided for by the 1919 legislature.
