In most cases the stockmen have brought the cattle in close to the railroad for feeding but hundreds of heads were lost before this pre- caution could be taken. No estimate of the loss has been made as the snow is still so deep that it is almost impossible to travel, but it is expected that the heavy storms will cause one of the heaviest lossés ever sustained by the eastern Wyom- ing stockmen. The storm was gen- eral thruout western Nebraska, East- ern Colorado gnd Wyoming. Stock conditions in the cattle and sheep country west of Casper are still good, owing to the fact that Wyom- ing stockmen had made preparations for just such a spring storm. pes ee SINGER IS HEAD ~OFALLIANCE C0. Maurice Singer of New York City, president of the Singer Securities Corporation, has arrived in Thermop- olis to start the erection of the first unit of the new refinery to be es- tablished there to handle the crude production of the Warm Springs basin and other fields surrounding Thermopolis. The refinery is being built by the Alliance Oil and Refining company, a Wyoming corporation with a total authorized capital of 200,000 shares of $5 par value, of which Mr. Singer is the president. The company has already acquired the nine-mile pipe- line extending to the Eastern limits of the Warm Springs field, tankage property with 37,500 barrels capac- ity on the southeastern edge of the town of Thermopolis, 20 acres ad- joining for additional storage tanks, and a 37 acre refinery site adjacent Regardless of what action may be | taken on the Federal amendment by the new congress, 12,500,000 women, representing one-half the states, will | be privileged to vote in the presi- | jdential election next year. i This company and associate inter- ests already control the chief pro- duction of the Warm Springs field, Springs pipe line, already connected |to 28 wells, 21 of which we and as- ociate interests control, with pipe ines to other fields within a 100-) |mile radius from the town and will jadd further units to the refinery |just as rapidly as we can do so.” Mr. Singer acquired Carter’s hotel jof Thermopolis January 1 for a con- ties to feed the new Thermopolis re-!sideration of $120,000 and is now finery. erecting a new wing, containing 36 The first unit of the refinery will be | rooms, to the former hotel structure. a topping plant with a daily capacity | of 1,000 barrels.
