Operations on the property! have been at a standstill for several days pending the settling and hard- ening of the cement which was put | into the hole at a depth of approxi-) mately 3,100 feet to shut off a water strata carrying the hole into the first Wall Creck sand. The company’s fg in the same v hole, came in wi tion estimated at 1,000 barrels a day over a year ago. This hole, accord- ing to reports, is now producing stead- ily about 300 barrels a day. As well No. 18 is in proven territory it will be of no exceptional importance ir extending the limits of the field, the primary benefit being the new production it will add to the field. PREMIER WELL IN BIG MUDDY 1S ABANDONED After a series of unfortunate ac- cidents on the Premier Oil company well on section 11-33-76 drilling op- erations have been abandoned ana the casing pulled from the hole, ac cording to authentic statements from the company. The first test of the east side of the Big Muddy field was started by the Premier company on a working agreement with the Ohio Oil company. Caving, losing tools, parting of casing and eventual- ly loss of the hole which had beer drilled to nearly 3,000 feet, are just} a few of the incidents which the com- pany had to contend with. What further endeavor the company wil make to develop the property is un- known. GURTIS TO DRILL TEST ON SUMMIT OF PINE. MT. The Curtis Petroleum company plans to drill a well on the crest of Pine Mountain which is considered the apex of the Pine Mountain Dome about 20 miles west of Casper. The rig will be erected on a luff which is about 500 feet highe®j than the surface of the surrounding country to the east, the fault occurring at the cliffedge making it a poor proposi- tion to endeavor to develop on the east side. While no state- ment has been made by the company relative to the extent of their opera tion in the field, it is believed that it plans going in on a tremendous scale, The orginal well site chosen by the company is about five miles nortn of the pioneer well in the field which was drilled by the Pioneer Syndicate headed by Dr, F. Leeper. According to reports the Carter company be- lieves that they are higher up on the to $100.00. deal of the water trouble that was encountered in the first well in the new location. Trucks have been hauling material to the field for several days to sup- nly the camp and drilling material. No statement has been obtained whe the hole will get underway, but it is) generally understoon that Cart. plans immediate exploitation of the large acreage. —_ ~~.
