Jean Mantelli, the noted grand opera singer, who was formerly a member of the Metrop6l- itan Opera Company of New York, where she achieved distinction as leading contralto, singing on the same stage with Melba, Nordica, ve, Eames, Sembrich, Jean and ard De Reszke, and other stars‘of the first magnitude. A few years ago Mme. Mantelli was forced by ill health to retire from the operatic stage.
