Curtis returned yester-| day from Washington, D. C., where he has been for thirty days in con- nection with the leasing bill and get-| iting fuel gas into Casper. While regretting the delay on the) ‘bill, Mr. Curtis said: “Congress has been very busy on| war and other necessary legislation. This has deferred the leasing bill. The oil men have the assurances that! the leasing matter will be considered| shortly after Congress gets down to work again, about September first. “I want to say of Francis J. Hon. Scott Ferris has been placed inj ‘a hard position, but he is sound, and| nothing but good may be expected} from him. | “We haven’t had a President in| the history of the United States who) has been stronger with Congress than} President Wilson. He is going to} have a lot to say’ about the passage of a leasing bill, but, doubtless, he; will exercise wisdom in the matter. | “We are working on plans to get the Iron Creek and Poison Spider gas | into Casper for fuel. We may know! within a short time if this can be ac-/ complished before winter. We have} assured the Government representa- tives that practically everyone in Cas-| per wants this fuel gas. It might} be well for those wishing it to write) to Mr. Tallman or Mr. Kearful, but! I think that inadvisable, as they are| very busy men.
