CARTER STRIKES. OIL, INDIAN LAND. Maverick Springs Se Second Gusher; | Cosden Interests Get Well at Salt Creek The Carter Oil company has found} a second gusher in the Maverick! Springs field in Fremont county. This firm has been operating there for some time past but the work has been preparatory to a great extent and only lately has the first well started to drill. The Sheridan-Wyoming well in this/| field was the first hole to find the crude in this field and the new strike of the Carter is sure to boom the field enormously. | A well was found by the Cosden interests in the West Salt Creek field | where they have been drilling a well | for some time on section 9-33-78. The lease lies next to the Out West leases and the strike will make this latter company’s holdings look good. The Merrit Oil company also brot in another well on their holdings in the Big Muddy field and the well} will make around 200 barrels per day. soe TEXAS COMPANY BUILDS WAREHOUSE AT LANDER At Lander the foundation has been laid out and work has begun on the superstructure of the new warehouse of the Texas compa: across the tracks from the Northwestern depot. | Maneger Ernest Moore expects that} the building will be completed in| about ten day: he Lande: station | of the Texas compat secant] largest the company in Wyoming. CASPER BRICK FOR GITY HALL: | Home Iga Given Boost by Council in Specifications for Building Local brick, made in Casper by the Casper Tile and Brick company will be used in constructing the new city hall building on South Center street, the city fathers hay de- cided so last night after carefull inspecting a sample of brick present- ed, and comparing same with an out- of-town product. Denver brick manufacturers are their former output and materia] only allowed a certain percent of could only be obtained from one of the eight brick yards in Denver. Since the architect corresponded with this manufacturer the price has been raised $8 per thousand and it seemed advisable to use the. local brich if the consistency and the fin_ ish were equal to the foreign pro- duct, The brick is made of shale, is cherry red in color, and has a smooth clean surface that does not crumbie, and 1s superior in all ways to the sample of f Denver bricl brick. The work is pfo- gressing nicely and there are more and wells drilling than ever be- fore in the State’s history, but a seem- ing quiet has descended over the op- erations that has been mistaken by some to indicate a cessation of work.| There is no question about the work in the oil fields continuing as it is now. Contracts entered into be- tween Eastern marketers and the large oil firms of Wyoming make it imperative that the big fellows ob- tain all the oil they can possibly get hold of and the contracts also carry jon for years to come. Pessimists have made the asser- #éons that should peace be declared soon, the bottom would drop out of (the oil business in Wyoming, and pee nothing would be left for the {workers here except the bag. ‘This is r much in error, for the present h record of operations is hound to {keep up, even in the event of a sud- iden drop in the oil markets of the {world for the present prevailing {prices of Wyoming oil are based up- on contract deliveries that would ob- ven in the event of a falling present driijing and the territory being tested grows larger as more and more drill- ing outfits are meved to the districts where the operators look for comin ields, : WILL ADVERTISE FOR BIDS ON PARK STATION Pi tani for tanelenntTor comfort station toibe erected on the BI Wolcott st park site in the down-town district. was presented by Architect McDonald to the councilmen ] ast evening and with tf cha s were adopted. ali the architect uthorized to get bid on the builc I he The comfort station will be 14 feet, of pressed grey brick pneer, and will contain toilets for men and women, and a rest room with ments for comfort. seats, mirrors, and all require- The contractor will have to complete the 40 da ) Structure and will pay a forfeit of $5 for every working limit.
