‘ Are You A True American Citizen If So Buy A LIBERTY BOND TODAY The Liberty Bond Sale in Natrona County will prove an unqualified success if YOU will de your share toward making it so. It is immaterial whether the money is spent by our own government or our allies, for it is a provision of each loan made the latter that the proceeds must be spent in the United States. Thus, every produceref supplies of any character is a direct beneficiary of the bond sale. Without money to pay, the government cannot spend : Therefore, it behooves every laboring man to boost the sale to the limit of his ability, for he will be a direct beneficiary. The same rule is products will find a ready and remunerative market. !n making thiss products will find a ready and remunerative mar':ct. In making this bond sale a success, our allies are directly affected. The continued prosperity of the wealthy classes is wholly dependent upon that of the poorer. In other words, labor and capital must “tt hand in hand to continue our leading position among the nations of the world. Idle capital will produce no more results than idle orers. Consequently, it becomes the bounden duty of every laborer to see that the sale is made a tremendous success. Likewise, capitalists must invest their funds in order that they may receive returns, and it is a truism that if the government fails im a financial sense, no private enterprise can survive. All this is aside from the duty of every loyal American in the premises. It may not be your boy who is fighting in the trenches, but he is your neighbor’s boy. Under the provisions of the selective draft law, every community im the United States is furnishing men for the trenches and therefore each is directly affected. It is not a war of the east, the south, the north, or the west, but that of a united nation. Money alone is now needed to make the outcome a success. Money must be had. Those who possess it have a manifest duty. Those who are compelled to purchase the bonds on the installment plan are finding the banks most liberal. Thus with conditions so ideal and with all putting a shoulder to the wheel, the war vehicle will move with alacrity. __ There must be no cessation until the desideratum is had. Far better a straining of one’s credit to purchase Liberty Bonds than to have the word spread broadcast throughout the world that the richest nation in the world refuses adequate support of every character to the men who are actually fighting its battles. No better object lesson is to be had than that contained in telegra phic and local news stories showing the purchase of bonds by the boys © themselves. If these brave lads on a mere pittance of a salary compared te that which skilled workmen are receiving, are subscribing, can there be any excuse for those left behind to decline? These men offer not only their lives, but their meager salaries as a sacrifice if needs be in order that the war may be won._ Can we who remain behind refuse them financial support when they show such marked patriotism? A valid excuse for refusal to buy a Liberty Bond is indeed difficult to invent. Happily, few are making such efforts. Bat $3,000,000,000 is a tremendous sum, amounting as it does to $30 per capita for the entire nation, based on a population of 100,000,000. If the desire of the administration is acceded to, it will amount to $5,00@,000,000, or $5@ per capita. The raising of either amount is a Herculean task. It means, in instances, the virtual abandonment of ordinary vocations on the part of solicitors; it requires the advancement of unanswerable arguments; it provides, in instances, a supreme test for the temper of a solicitor. Indeed, at times, it is a task quite on a parity with the extracting of blood from a turnip. ; But whatever the effort, the sale must be accomplished, and if it involves sacrifices, they must be made. Like all other participants, the United States is going to feel the stern nature of war, and the financial part thereof will not be the harder portion to bear. — Casper and the outlying districts are making splendid responses, but their quota must be over-subscribed, for unquestionably there are communities not so corteaete on. vcd sss will perhaps fall behind. 'e must do our share an ortunate. alge . ire in the war will come, but only after a desperate struggle. To properly engage im this, funds by the millions and biltions mast be provided. None can afford to be a ee = for a day of reckoning is coming, and woe unto he who, if able, refuses assistance to the i vest crisis it has ever faced. eye des Comaihes of Casper, composed of your bankers, in whom you have confidence, and many of your principal business men, urge you to make it as easy as possible for soliciting committees who will visit you next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Prove to the world and our president at Washington that the people of Natrona County are with him to the finish. We appeal to all residents to be as liberal in their subscriptions as your circumstances will permit.
