IMPORTANT INFORMATION Regarding Independent Oil Refineries Facts Concerning Their Operations Outside of Wyoming Some of the people who are not familiar with conditions outside of Wyoming believe INDEPENDENT REFIN- ERIES can not exist. The facts are that the “INDEPENDENT” Oil Refineries are coming to the front by leaps and bounds. The “Independents” are gaining ground on every hand. This was brought about, in the main, by organization; the other reason is the rapidly growing Independent movement throughout the United States. There is the National Petroleum Association, which is the father of all Independent Associations—Fifty-two Inde- pendent Oil Refining concerns are members of this Association. There is the Independent Oil Men’s Association—Nearly 2,000 Independent Marketing and Jobbing concems are members of this Association, with thousands of distributing stations throughout the United States. These two Associations alone are backed by untold millions. The second largest Oil Refinery in the world is an Independent Refinery located at Tulsa, Oklahoma. Aside from this, there are 30 Independent Refineries in the Mid-Continent Oi! Fields (Oklahoma) and they are doing a flourishing business and making money. Very few of the Independent Refineries have production of their own. The majority of them purchase their crude from the Independent Producers and pay a premium over the prevailing price, which is now $1.70 per barrel, and the oil does not average much more than half gasoline content that N orthern Wyoming oil contains. The Standard price for Pennsylvania crude oil is $3.10 per barrel. The Independent Refineries pay a premium over this and still they make money, and the oil will not average within 20 per cent the gasoline content that Northem Wyoming - oil does. The facts are, Wyoming crude oil carries the highe st percentage of gasoline of any oil in the world. This makes the Wyoming fields the greatest money-making proposition f or oil refineries on the globe today. The real bona-fide Independents are now getting a foothold in Wyoming through the CONSUMERS OIL & REFIN- ING CO. This company is not making a splash for the purpose of selling out to other large companies. Weare here to stay as “Independents.” We are members of the ‘National Petroleum Association,” and the “Independent Oil Men’s Association.” We have an unlimited market for our refined products, and we have unlimited backing for the purpose of purchasing whatever crude oil we may desire (after our first refinery is completed at Greybull) from the Independent Producers, at a premium of ten cents per barrel over the prevailing price, whatever it might be. Our Refinery will be enlarged from time to time to take care of such production, as well as the production from our own wells, and the other companies of which we are and may become afhliated.
