A good listener does not mean apathetic silence on the part of one’s audience, but the | eager assent which the bright eye, ready smile, and whole-souled nod lend the hearer. The teacher of stage deportment instruct their pu- pils in these arts of silence which speak almost as loudly as words. The eager listener need not sit bolt up right with a ramrod-like draping of the spinal column. That is not nec-} essary in order to show appreciative attention; lean back comfortably, bat incline the head, eprmit one foot to} lead the other, and above all look ahi- snated.
