We had a fine rain last Fri- day night, which was very much needed. There has been so much rain that if we don’t get plenty of water now the corn won’t make much. Threshing, haying and plowing corn has been the order of the day. Whe oat crop Was npt near so good as was ex- pected. Jim Gregory returned from Western Kansas one day last week. He reports that he got some good money while out there. There was quite a little excite- ment over-on the creek one day last week over a dog fight. No one was hurt but one of the par- ties got on his ear over the dog fight. We are glad to see that Mt. Carmel has a new seribe from that part for we know some of the folks in that part of the county. W. F. Stephens reports that . he made a trip to the county seat a few days ago in a car and was home for dinner. He went to Amsterdam and came back by Albert Daniels’ and spent the evening with him.
