Warrensburg, Mo., July 14.— The corner stone of the main building of the Normal -School was removed -}from the ruins of the building’ today and opened before a great crowd of citizens and students.. The leaden box incased in the stone August 16, 1871, was opened by G. C. Gillum, wor- shipful master of Corinthian Lodge of Masons. It was under the auspices of this lodge the: stone was laid 44 years ago. ‘In the box was found a copy of The Missonri Republican of date of August 16, 1871, and of The Kansas City Bulletin. A _ Bible, several small coins and shin plasters of small denominations were also found. D. D. Williams, Warrensburg business man and the only sur- viving officer of the Masonic Lodge which took part in the ceremonies of laying the cor- ner stone, was present at the op- ening today. Miner Makes Bed of Dynamite; Kills Self. Pittsburg, Kan, July 14.— Mike Demisky committed sui- cide at 3 o’clock this afternoon in his home at Franklin, seven miles north of here, by lighting the fuse to a stick of dynamite and lying down on the explos- ive, The explosion not only killed him, but wrecked the interior of his honie. : Demisky is said to have be- come dejected because his wife left him and their five children a few days ago. He was 45 years, old, and was employed as a miner by the Western Coal & Mining Company at mine No. 18. Contracts Oil for Navy. San Antonio, Tex., July 14.— Cato Sells, and Indian _commis- sioner, announced in El Paso today that the United States government had made a_ con- traet with the Osage Indians of Oklahoma for the total output. of the 56,000 acres of oil land onthe Indian reservation, to be used by-the navy in case of war. He declared this was the most important piece of business that he had handled since he took office. The Indian commission is en route to Nescalero Indian reservation in New Mexico, which is proposed to be made in- to a national: park. Pettis to Have Own Building. Sedalia, Mo., July 17.—The Pettis County Bureau of Agri- culture today unanimously _ vot- ed to purchase the John Deere Plow Company building at the Missouri State Fair grounds in Sedalia, to be. used as a ‘‘Pettis County building.” The purchase price is $5,000 and will be raised by private subscription.
