Frank White of Chattanooga, Tenn., a lion trainer appearing with a circus at Olive Hill, Ky., Monday was killed by one of the lions. White entered the cage and was attacked from be- hind by a lion, which pawed and chewed him almost to pieces. The trainer was decapitated. Nicholas Bitterman and Albert Schiltz dashed down a steep hill Mon- day on a motorcycle approaching the Illinois avenue bridge across the Fox river at Aurora, Ill., and ran into a passing Chicago & Northwestern passenger train. . Both were killed. Rev. W. T. Sheridan D. D., general secretary of the Epworth Leagues of the United States, delivered an ad- dress to the Epworth Leaguers at the Ohio Street M. E. Church Tuesday evening. Dr. Sheridan is an eloquent talker and was listened to. with inter- est by a large-audience. Farris of Clinton presented the National Prohi- bition Committee with the Artesian Park, located in that city, with the ex- pectation that it would be made the site of a training school for prohibi- tion workers. At a recent meeting of committee held in Chicago it was voted to return the property to Mr. Farris, as the need of such a school is largely a thing of the past. The school board met Friday night and elected Prof. J. O. Henderson superintendent of schools, Prof. W. L. Coonrod principal of the High School and Prof. L. S. In the evening a program was given by the teacher, Miss Priestly and pupils.
