Sproul who intends leaving for Montana soon. - On account of bad weather there was only a few at Sunday School. It was our intention to close. the Sun- day School to attend: the township convention at Starr, but ‘on account of the bad weather, was unable to at- tend, and had our Sunday School. Mrs.‘ Poe called on Mrs. Soder- strom Saturday afternoon: Will Morrison and Clarence Hovey went out to J. T. Hyatt’s east of But- ler Saturday. Will brought back a nice mare and colt. _John M. Carnie who has been em- ployed near Missouri City for.the past year is staying at home at pres- ent. . Friday afternoon the school girls which was good considering the little time and trouble which was spent, and with little practice. Those who attended were: Mrs. Shay, Mrs. Simpson, Mrs. Callahan, Mrs. Boyer, Misses Sylvia Vaughn, Margaret Morrison, ~ Ethel Boyer and Mr. Roy Cope. Several from here attended Old Settlers’ Reunion in Butler; had a jolly good time and shook hands with all our old friends. We hope to have a like opportunity next year. Miss Bessie Fox is staying in Rich Hill at the present writing. L. L. Brewer and J. J. Nickell took a load of: fish to- Butler ~last Wednesday worth telling about.. The bottom of their wagon box was com- pletely covered with fine ones, most- ly large catfish weighing from about 20 to50 pounds. It made us feel like baiting our hooks and hie away tothe river. We heard that they took a similar load to Rich Hill after that. This is a true fish story. Every body has a job in Cornland. No loafing allowed. We had the pleasure of meeting our old friend, Joe Denton, at the picnic fast week. We are glad to see that Cornland has got a writer from that part as. there are several we know in. that part of the county. Miss Myrtle Spillman took dinner at the writers last Sunday. W. F. They have a rath- er crowded condition here but the teacher, Miss Mabel Kepner, is doing them good work and the board should help her in every way they can. Hackler has an enrollment of 25 and 25 were present. They have some money left over from a pie sup- per to spend and will use it to make their school better. Miss Audra Guthrie is teacher again. Smokey Row has an enrollment of 24 and 22 wrre present. The pupils of this school are good workers and they have a good teacher and if all will cooperate they will have a good school. Miss Stella Ramsey is teach- er. . Freeze Out has an enrollment of 16 and 10 were present. The light at- tendance is due to some of the pupils visiting. Miss Ruth Guinn is teacher and has her work well classified. Fair View has an enrollment of 44 and 37 were present. They have im- proved their house very materially and will have a better school asa re- sult. Miss Josephine Power is teach- er and is doing good work. Edwards has an enrollment of 33 and 33 were present. They have trouble with their well. Mr. Minnie Kiersey is teacher and has her school well classified considering the condi- tion it was in. Griggs has an enrollment of 33 and 32 were present. They have a new pump in the well and have better water as a result. Their building is not large enough and the board would help things by putting in recitation seats. Miss Elsie Sullins ig teacher and all are well pleased. Fair Play has an enrollment of 14 and 11 were present. ‘ They are re- pairing the building. They are hav- ing an excellent school with Miss Selina Newlon as teacher. Her lan- guage work is especially good. Harmony has an enrollment of 46 and 37 were present. This schoolhas more pupils in a class than many schools have enrolled. They are back to their old time work with Miss Myrtle Randall as teacher once more. iss Randall is rendering excellent service. Olive has an enrollment of 29 and 21 were present. They have a good interest on the part of both teacher and pupils. Miss Sallie Holwell is teacher for the third consecutive time. Little Deer Creek has an enroll- ment of 41 and 23 were present. The light attendance is due to whooping cough. Miss Minnie Holwellisteach- er again and is well pleased with the work they are doing and are her patrons. She is one .of our best teachers. ~ For the fourth year in succession the Prairie City Cheese Co., was awarded the Grand Prize and Sweep- stakes at the State Fair. This is not because this is the only cheese facto- ry in the state, but because their cheese scored higher than any other.
