St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 27.—Senator Charles F. Krone of this city, the Re- | | publican leader in the Missouri State | Senate, a brilliant orator and able lawyer, has announced his intention to support Wilson. Senator Krone has long been the principal spell binder of the Republic- an party in St. Louis, and in his own party he is without an equal as a stump speaker. When the Repub- lican committee last week asked him to again take the stump for the G. O. P., he flatly refused, although he is still holding office as a Republican Senator. Ina published statement over his signature, Senator Krone defines his attitude so clearly and logically as to make a profound impression upon all Progressive Republicans, many of whom are following him. He says: “1 count myself a Progressive Re- publican. But I distinguish between a real progressive and a reactionary maquerading in that garb. I am not a misguided follower of that Benedict Arnold of Progressive Republicanism commonly known as Theodore Roosevelt. I shall cast my vote in November for Woodrow Wilson.’ Of the Republican party he says: “Its hour of death has come. Its organization is completely in the hands of the politicians and parasites, who cling to the old machine with President Taft. It is a conspiracy throughou between office holders and crooked businesss. The people are leaving the party everywhere. At this time the election of Woodrow Wilson’seems to me to be necessary to our free and peaceful development as a nation. The settlement of the tariff question is for him and his| party for the next for years.”’ For Sale. Two registered Poland-China hogs. 9 months old, boar and gilt, of Har- shaw stock.
