Jefferson City, Aug. 31.—Hundreds of letters from St. Louis automobile owners have been received by Secre- tary of State Roach the past two days asking for state licenses. Many have telegraphed, thinking that this would be the quickest way, and others merely send in a request and tell the secretary to forward their bill and license to their address. Since Inspector Claude D. Long, of the Secretary of State’s Department, having charge of the automobile li- censes, paid St. Louis an official visit and caused the wholesale arrest of parties who were operating machines without state licenses, there has been a great awakening among the delin- quents of that city. It is useless to telegraph for a li- cense or to apply in any other way than that specified by the new auto- mobile law. Each application must be made on a blank prepared by the secretary of state, a copy of which | will be sent to any applicant. This blank describes the vehicle and no! license will be issued until it is prop- erly made out and filed with the| secretary of state. oO Kansas City is next on the list for a | shaking up and St. Joseph will follow. | The latter town is supposed to be the worst sinner in the lot, judging from the number of licenses issued to its citizens. in d summer, the aatiral tae ts aieco oe health and vitality for the year, Scott's Emulsion im Detee's best and quick.
