On the 16th of last December al- st a year ago to the day, Senator ow offered the joint resolution now pending before the senate This resolution now so near frution provides: That the senate of the United State nall be composed of two sen- ato ate chosen at a general election by the electors there- of, for a term of six years This resolution or one worded along the same lines, which has been the football of the senate committee, is at last to be tossed over the senate goal for a touchdown. Aroused by the sentiment of the country on this vital question, that has found such emphatic expressions recently in many. of the states, the conservative judiciary committee has found it convenient to give this reso- lution serious consideration. * SENATOR LORIMER NOT GUILTY Committee investigating Charges Against the Illinois Man Find They Had Not Been Proven. mittee of the senate committee on privileges and elections which investi- gated charges against Senator Lori- | mer voted unanimously to report to the full committee that the charges | had not been proved. | The committee took up the evidence | in its entirety at an executive session.
