Trouble in the Alleged Daniels Hanging. It will be remembered that the last grand jury indicted Louis Phillips and C k. Leneve, of Howard town- ship, for felonious assault on W. G. Daniels, in an alleged attempt to force him to admit the authorship of an anonymous threatening letter. When brought to trial Prosecuting “Attorney Dawson took « nolle and swore out information against the parties and had them rearrested. The trial will take place today before Justice Sheppard at Rich Hill. The Review publishes the following letter which was the cause of all the trou- ble: & LETTER FROM HELL. “HELL, Aug., 11, 1905. He told us ofa fishing outing they had on Deep Water last week, with Supreme Judge Graves and Bruce Ludwick as the guests of honor. They caught about 75 pounds of black bass and channel cat, They had a fish fry in camp and a jolly good time. The seventy-fivesurvivors of Quan- trell’s band of 150 guerillas will hold @ reunion at Beaumont Station near Independence on August 23 and 24. The board of viewers of Grand Riv- er Drainage District, met and organ- ized last week and elected A. H. Bell as the engineer. Mr. Bell will go over the proposed route with the board. Coleman was in from Deep water on Monday and favored us pleasantly. Mr. Coleman has long strong men in the Democratic party. Some of his friends are urging his name for county treasurer, but Mr. Coleman says he hasn’t decided to be # candidate for any office, as he trade. The water of the mineral well at Higginsville is being subjected to an analysis The Chicago & Alton ra‘l- road officials have promised the Commercial Club of that place that if the waters have the properties claimed, all trains will be stopped for five minutes to allow passen- gers to rink the water. Oklahoma Wife Beater Killed. Oklahoma City, Ok., Aug. 20.—C. A. Warren, @ prosperous farmer, was shot and killed near Wynnewood yee- terday afternoon by his brother-in- law, Gus Graves. The shots were fired from a Winchester rifle. The fires broke Warren’sneck, the second entered the back and the third plerced his heart. Warren was beating his wife with @ revolver when Samuel Wilson and Gu Graves, her brother and half brother, aovearad.
