Wall was the result of an enmity that existed be tween Todd and Well for twenty-five years. Both were well-to-do and prowinent citizens of Richards, fi! teen miles north of this city. At times the bitter feelings between them would subside, and they would befriends. An instance of this was when Todd was a candidate for the Legislature, and Wall led his del- egation to the county convention. The bitter feeling returned, however, and the men have since been enemies. On May 20 this year Wall and Todd had trouble early in the morn- ing, and two hours later, when Wall- rode by Todd’s office, he was shot and killed. Todd claimed Wall made move to draw a pistol, and that he shot In self defence. The fact that Wall had passed Todd a distance of forty feet before Todd shot gives round for the opinion that Todd did not shoot in self defence, hogs, veal mutton and turkeys.
