A note was found saying that funds in a Denver bank had ken transferred to Mrs. Jessie Rudisell, a sister in that city. An empty carbolic acid bottle was upon the bed. It is be- lieved she committed suicide, but no reason for the act is known. The panther that has been seen by a number of people south of town in Drywood township, went to J. P. Bales plsce last night and killed a calf belonging to Mr. Bales, says Saturday's Nevada Post. The pan- ther cut the calf's throat and ate a hole in the flank of one side. The panther’s' tracks were discernable in the sand. Mr. Bales also miseed a number of chickens which be lays-to the pan- ther. . Confederate Leader Dies. Lake City, Fla., Nov, 8.—General Jesse J. Finley, one of the few sur- viving Brigadier Generals of the con- federate Army, died here to-day, General Finley was 92 years old. He resigned the destri*t judgeship of Florada to enter the Confederate Army. In the Southern service he rose to the rank of Brigadier. General. He wai a member of Congress three terme, and heid many positions of honor and trust in this State. 1 Bona, Algeria, Nov. 8.—A hundred people were drowned last night by the sinking of the French steamer Gironde, after having been in colli- sion with the French steamer, at Sehiattino, near Herbillon, twenty- three miles from Bona, The Gironde left Bona with 110 passengers, of which 100 were Alge- rian natives, A Correction. Dear Eprror—l notice in the last issue of Tok Times a misstatement in regard to the amputation of the right arm of Bud Aenry, It should read this way: Dr. Lockwood ampu- tated the right arm of Mr. Henry with Drs. Boulware, Cumpton and Whipple assisting. Honor to whom honor is due. In August, 1903, Dr, Cumpton amputated a boy's lower limb without any assistance at all, which made a good recovery and Dr. Cumpton was too modest to ever give it out for publication, therefore I think vhe courteay ia due Dr. Cump- ton that you publish this letter in full, Dr. Cumpton was not men- tioned in the former article. New York, Nov. 8.—For $5,000 the United States Battleship Maine Salvage Company of this city has bought from the Cuban Goverment the reck of the illfated Main in Havana Harbor. A cofferdam will be built around the hulk. It will be raised. Such of the -seventy-four bodies of American sailors which were not recovered after the battle- ship was destroyed on February 15, will be removed and burled with due honors in the United States if the Navy Department desires to take charge ef them or in Havana if the Washington Goverment makes no provision. The salvage company will make arrangement for the sale of the ma- eninery and armor of the old ship. The people vf Havana will be allow- ed to visit the hulk on payment of a small fee, It is planned, after Cuban curios ity is satisfied, tu put a new bottom on the ship and tow it Luua Park, Coney Island. Beveridge, who has been watching the returns closely, said that Roosevelt’s plurality in In- diana would be not less than 50,000 and probably more, and that the Re- publican majority on joint ballot in the legislature would be fifty. Illinois By 150,000 Chicago, Nov. 8.-The indications at 10:30 o'clock, based on the returns received, were that the Republican national ticket had carried Illinois by about 150,000, Ohio by 100,000. Columbus, O., Nov. 8.-In his 10 o'clock statement, State Chairman Dick, Republican, said that Roose velt’ plurality in Ohio would not be less than 100,000. Colorado 5,000 Denver, Nov. 8.-T'he Denver Times, Democratic, concedes that Roosevelt carries Colorado by 5,000 or 6,000 lurality and claims that Adama, Demoeret, will have 8,000 majority over Peabody for governor.
