Forty million dol lars even is the assessed value of Mr. Field’s taxable property, real and personal, in Chicago. It is the eati- mate of the board of review. Mr. Field’s real estate assessment is $30,000,000. His personal assess- ment is $10,000,000. Next year he will pay taxes on an additional mil- lion dollars’ worth of real estate, All of this property is in Chicago, and all Mr. Field’s taxes go to the support of Illinois, Cook county and the city of Chicago. These facte were brought out before the board of review to-day when a Tepresentative of the wealthy Chicago merchant applied for and obtained a reduction of assessment upon Mr. Field’s individual personal property from $2,500,000 to $2,000,000. Sherwell of Strangling Fame Again Arrested Norwalk, Ohio, August 27.—Wil- bur 8, Sherwell is under arrest here on the charge of arson. Sherwell was formerly a patrolman in Evansville, Ind., and three years ago was arrest- ed on the charge of havingchoked to death three women. He was acquit- ted on two of the charges and the third was nolle prossed. Immediate- ly after his discharge, Sherwell left Evansville and came to Ohio to live with his mother. At one time he as- sumed the name of Charville. He has @ wile and two children.
