The Missouri Commission is mak ing special efforts to have the oc- casion one of large significance. Governor A. M. Dockery, United States Senators F. M. Cockrell and W J. Stone, Former United States Senator George G. Vest and each of the fifteen members of the National House of Representatives from Mis- sourl are expected to be present and make brief addresses. Special musi- cal program will be arranged. T. Wall, a Wealthy Missou- rian, Killed in Richards. Nevada, Mo , May 20.—R. T. Wall, reputed to be the wealthiest resident of Vernon county, Missouri, was shot and killed at Richards this morning by Dr. J. D. Todd, another well known resident of the town. Wall was riding along the street when Dr. Todd stepped out of bis office, pistol in hand, and fired. Todd was arrest- ed by a constable and was brought to this place where he was placed in jail, The shooting was the result ofa grudge growing out of a lawsuit in which the two men were involved. A fire was started on Dr. Todd’s farm about a month ago, which spread to Wall’s farm. The suit resulted from this, Walli’s land holdings in Mis- souri and Texas amounted to 20,- 000 acres. Sheriff Harkreader drove across the country to Richards,. Dr, Todd was brought to Nevada on the tra‘'n via Rich Hill this afternoon, Dr. Todd was taken to the office of the ex-prosecuting attorney, A. J. King, who is his attorney, Mr. King as attorney for Dr, Todd made the following statement to the Star and the Times reporter: “The killing was done in self de- fense, It resulted from an old feud of twenty years standing, Dr, Todd and Mr, Wall had some words early this morning. At that time Wall drew his knife on the doctor.
