Y., Uctober 3.— The three Van Wormer brothers— Willis, Burton and Frederick—were put to death in the electric chair in Clinton prison between 11:35 and 11:48 o’clock to-day for the murder of their uncle, Peter A. Hallenbeck, in the village of Greendale, Columbia county, on Christmas evening two years ago. The first of the three to die was Willis, the eldest, chosen because Warden George Deyo thought him to be physically the weakest of the three and so most liable to a breakdown. The execution was pronounced by the experts who witnessed it to be the most skillful that ever took place in this prison. The three men went to their death calmly and bravely, and their deaths were absolutely without incident except for the audi- bly murmured prayers of the young- est, who died with the name of the Deity on his lips, and the fact that Willis, the eldest, assisted the keep- Salah aud cadena Bene Wy 2 S8-4t Sheriff of Bates County, Mo.
