Chicago, Ul, April 1.—The inter- state commerce commission to-day began an investigation here of the methods of certain railroads in con- ducting their business relating to charges and facilities for the trans- portation of salt from Moinstee,, Ludington and Detroit, Mich. to Kansas City, St. Joseph, Omahaand other Missouri river points. The roads involved are the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe, Chicago, Bur- lington & Quiney, Chicago & Alton, Chicago & Northwestern, Michigan Central, Pere Marquette, and the Michigan, Indiana and Ilinois Trans- portation Co. The commission will also investi- gate the methous employed by rail- roads in shipping grain.
