Ames, to six years anda holfin the penitentiary for accepting a bribe, to-day. A stay of fifty days in which to move fora new trial was granted. | Ames was colonel of the Thirteenth Minnesota volunteer regiment and won promotion in the Philippines. He was appointed superintendent of police by his brother, Dr. A. A. Ames mayor of Minneapolis, new under indictment. His brother recently resigned. Col.
