Terrible Experience of a Nine-Year-Old Child. Bena, Minn., Dec. 13.—After having jen lost for one week in the great swamps surrounding Lake Winnibi- goshish, little Fannie Olson, the daughter of a homesteader living at the edge of the Chippewa Indian reservation, has returned to her home. as one risen from the dead. The child is but 9 years of age, yet forseven days she wandered alone inthe trackless swamp, beset now and then by timber wolv and sul- fring the pangs of hunger to the ships that would appall the stoutest man, yet she has come out of the ordeal unharmed, and except for being almost prostrated with fatigue isas well as ever. Fannie, accompanied by her father, fisited the cabin of a Sunday, and on the return home be- came lost, her father, who had been drinking, failing to remain with her on the road through the woods. How thechild reached the swamp that extends clear around the lake no one knows, yet reach it she did, and there she wandered until to-day when she was found by an Indian and brought here.
