Corinth, Miss., April 7.—The thirty- eighth anniversary of the battle of Shiloh, when the armies commanded by Generals Grant and Buell met the forces of Generals Albert Sidney John- ston and Beauregard, was celebrated to-day by a grand reunion of both the federal and confederate veterans on the field where they once fought. The present method of warfare and the instances of the mutilation of prisoners have incensed the American soldiers to such a degree that they feel justified in making reprisals, which has been done on several oc- ons recently. There is a strong feeling among the residents and friendly Filipinos that the Chinese General Pana, who. as announced March 21, surrendered to Brigadler General Kobbe, after ter- rorizing the province of Panay, should be severely punished.
