Havana, Dec. 9.—The military commander in Neuevitas, Puerto Principe, has issued an order that all persent who discharged firearms and rockets to alarm them while the town is surrounded by enemies shall be shot, and the same punishment shall be meeted out to all persons who so ~ much as leave their houees without a permit, even though they go no further than their terraces. To dis- play any other flag than the Spanish is punishable by death. One person to be designated by the Military Governor is allowed to come out of each house once a day to attend to all marketing, etc. This person is to be specified by the commander, and the hour at which he shall be permitted on the street is fixed by the same authority. Only the fam- ilies of firmen, volunteers and Gov- ernment officials are allowed to take refuge in the forts, and the eoldiers are instructed to shoot any others who try to get in. An Indian’s Story, San Francisco, Cal., Dec. 9.—The latest news from Dawson City indi- cates that the situation is even worse there than was shown by previous advices. The story brought out by an Indian is that there are 3,000 men now trying to get out of the ice-bound country. The Indian said that food was absolutely lacking in Dawson; that 3,000 men had deter mined to make their way over the trails, and that no steamers had ar- rived at Dawson City since the Wear and Bella landed, about the middle of October. H. L. Nersby Credited With Nine Murders. Atlants, Ga., Dec. 9—Henry L. Nersby, a negro confined in jail here awaiting execution, has slain nine men in his career of crime ard wounded and crippled as many more. own race, which he says he abhors. The $20,000 earaed by his tribe in packing miners’ outfits over the Alaskan passes avd in trading with interior tribes was squandered by Donawak during five days’ festivi- ties.
