The story is that Bush- nell will be in Wasbington March 5, |when the senate confirms the ap- | pointment of Sherman to the cabi- net, and will receive Sherman’s res- ignation there. He will issue a call at once from there for the legislature to meet in special session on Tuesday March 9, to fill the vacancy and positively nothing else. Prince George admitted that his orders were to prevent by every means possible the landing of any Turkish troops on the Island of Crede. Just previous to his departure, Prince George visited the king for the purpose of receiving the royal commands. He then proceeded to the department of marine and for eign affairs. An immense crowd cheered him. The news of the de- parture of the Prince with the tor- pedo flotilla spread like wildfire through the city and created a pro- tound impression. Shreveport, La., Feb. 10 —Fifteen parishes, principally in the hill dis- tricts, are affected by the drouth, and, although the state appropriat ei $65,000 for corn, it was buta drop in the bucket so far as relieving the distress was concerned.
