He hastened to find Eva's brother. He met him on the way to the Dun- can home. They proceeded on their way, when they were overtaken by the bride and groom in a carriage. The bride’s brother walked up to the vehicle and commanded his sister to climb out. She obeyed and ac companied Angel and ker brether home. Angel drove away soon after the party entered the Duncan home. Since then nothing has been seen of Angel or the bride. It is understood that they both left on the ’Frisco train for the Pacific coast. Body Deyoured by Hogs. Cape Girardeau, Mo., Oct. 4.— Mrs. Effie Jackson, a colored woman, aged 70, left her home, three miles north of town, to visit a child in town, last Tuesday, and to-day it was discovered she had not reached her daughter's house. On search beg made this morning, her re- mains were found im the woods about a quarter ofa mile from her house. The bones had been entirely denuded of flesh by hogs, and were identified by the clothing found near by, in a badly torn condition. It is supposed that she dropped dead of heart disease, and that the hogs afterwards discovered and devoured the body. Awful Fate. Monett, Mo., October 10.—This morning, seven miles southeast ot Monett, a young woman was found lying by theroadside, perfecily nude, and her body and limbs almost burned to a crisp. She was still alive and able to explain that she was going from Purdy to Verona, and late last{night built a fire. She sat down by it, and, falling asleep, her clothing caught fire and was burned off. Her name could not be learned- She was taken to Purdy for treatment, but there is no hope for recovery. Kansas City, Mo, Oct 9.—Fire which started fram a lighted cigar- ette at 3:45 this morning in the three-story brick building at Fourth and Walnut streets, occupied princi- pally by the Theater Comique, com- pletely destroyed that structure. A. E. Kennedy of Insurance Patrol No. 1, a brother of chief Hale was crushed by falling walls and cannot live. The pecuniary logs is about $25,000. The building was an old landmark. Litchfield, and some of the stolen goods were found in Litchfield’s house. Fred Knodle, an election judge, under indictment for frauds com- mitted in the last fall’s eleetion, committed suicide with morphine. He was soon to be tried for the crime. Knodle’s connection with the frauds was that ofa tool, andina note written before he took the fatal dose he says he had been minded by those whose ends he served.
