Jefferson City, Mo, July 2.—The Supreme court in bane to-day enter- ed final judgment of disbarment against E. M. Harber and A. C. Knight in which they were charged with forging aud mutilating the records in the Howell murder case. No case, probably, has in years at- tracted the widespread attention that this one has for the reason of the prominence of the attorneys charged with these crimes and mag- nitude of the offense committed. It will be remembered that Howell was tried and convicted in the Gran- dy county Cireuit court of the kili ing of his cousin, and her four smal! children, sentenced to hang and ap- pealed to the Supreme court. It was charged by the attorney general that the record had been mutilated by Harber and Knight, which charge was supported by affidavits of div- ers people, and the Supreme court finally corrected the record and hanged Howell. Then followed’ the disbarment proceedings against Har ber and Knight Mr. Harber is a prominent Democrat, bas been twice elected from his district prosecuting attorney of Grundy county and was recently appointed a delegate to the silver convention at Memphis by Governor Stone. Mr. Knight is a prominent Repulican, and has been twice prosecuting attorney of Grun- dy county.
