The case is not rare and not half as bad as the experience of Bishop Hogan,of Kan- sas City, who was arrested for the same purpose and dragged through the streets like a common criminal. Such acts as these resulted in the republican party being swept out of power in the state in 1872 and they have not recovered lost ground since.—Springfield Leader.
