The before the grand jury was cunduct ed by Attorney General Rogers, and although each witness remained but a short time before the grand jury it will take several days to hear all of them. It is, therefore, probable that the grand jury will not be ready to file its report for a week or more. The report will be along and exhaus- tive one, and it is understood will be quite sensational, giving the full history of the Matia in New Orleans, showing how and when it originated examination here, the large number of Italian criminals who have emigrated to New Orleans and among whose ranks it was recruited, and giving a full account of the murder of Hen nessy and the facts leading up to it and showing the views and motives which induced the people to take the law into their own hands. The report is likely to be a strong presentation of the citizens’ side of the case as explanatory of why the grand jury has failed to find indict- ments against the men engaged in lynching. Detective O'Malley talks very defiantly, and says the people who called so loudly for his appre- hension are now sorry they have got him. “They will be glad to get rid of me,” he says, “but they can’t and I will yet have them pilloried as the murderers of innocent and helpless men. The Italians did not kill H nessy. Hennessy’s last words were: ‘Never mind me, Devereux; not ‘catch the dagoe reported.
