Among the latest enterprises of the day is the “American Literary & Supply Association” an incorpor- ation of different publishers with headquarters in Chicago. The ob- ject being to furnish all the better class of literature direct to the peo- ple, thus saving the purchaser from 30 to 70 per cent. One of the Asso- ciation’s representatives will call on our citizens in the near future and as this is a matter of dollars and cents to all book buyers no one should fail to examine the plan and workings of the association when the opportunity is offered. Thatthe great cost of all our literature is that of distribution is well known, and hence the efforts of the A. L. & S. A. to furnish all works more di- rect is worthy of all encouragement. The association is well endorsed by some of the leading citizens of Chi- cago and as they present to every member a set of books free that could not be bought for the price charged for membership there can certainly be no greatrisk. A glance through their catalogue will convince any one of the value of the associa- tion. The Golden Ww edding i is Ge name of the finest Patent flocs on the market, now for sale by E. T. Vernon, O., Bridge Company was in consul- tation with the chief engineer of the road, in this city, yesterday, to have the plans approved, which we under- stand were satisfactory. It is a mistake that the president of the road, Mr. Geo. Wilson, has returned from Europe. He was still in Scotland the last of March but is expected in New York very shortly (if not there now,) and willno doubt soon be on the ground. At least there would seem to be no occasion at this time to doubt that the road will be pushed to the satisfaction of all interested.—Rich Hill Review. A number of men with their teams who have been camping on the line of the cut-off railroad, east of this city, for the past month waiting to go to work, got tired and pulled up stakes the latter part of last week, and the last seen of them they were making for Kansas City with a full head of steam. Entrance was gained to the safe by drilling a hole near the cen- ter of the door and using powder or dynamite, the door being completely wrecked. Postmaster Wade could not tell his exact loss but estimates it all the way from $300 to $500. He said he had some bills, silver and coppers, and nine registered letters in the safe, and all were missing except thecoppers. He had a large quantity of stamps, couldn't tell justhow many.
