! iS. a Victims of Drouth Permitted to Leave Pre-empted Lands For a Time. eee Washington, Dz. C., July 6.—Com missioner Sparks has written the following letter to A. F. Clapp of | Julesburg, Col., which explains it- self: T am in receipt of your letter stat- | ing that you are in the midst of a! drouth, with no signs of crops; that there will be no hay, vegetables, etc; that settlers are leaving to hunt for | work. You state that claim holders do not want to lose their claims, and that the question is daily asked if there are any chances of getting permits and what steps are necessa- ry. The distressing situation you have mentioned appeals to my strongest sympathies in favor of actual settlers on the public domain who are suffer- ing from drouth and loss of crops, and whatever relief may be possible Gre Chmpiy Wika Pabst ABSOLUTE DIVORCES without publicit: within the discretion of this office tr patties ro ertion, nod. buppert, Intemper- will be extended to enable them to wet, realty. Corydon, Ind., July 5.—News has just reached here of a terrible fight which occurred at Marengo, Craw- ford county, Saturday night, be- tween a band of white-caps and two brothers named Naushee. The white-caps called upon John Nau- shee for the purpose of whipping him, and Naushee and his brother Sherman, armed with wagon spokes, attacked the regulators. In the fight that ensued Sherman Naushee was shot and will probably die, and John Naushee was beaten with clubs until he was left for dead. The Naushees were alive at the last re- port, but it is thought they will die. The Naushee brothers are powerful men, and every blow they dealt with the spokes laid a regulator low, and it is more than probable that there are some dead white caps in Craw- ford county at present. The blood- stained walls and floors showed signs of a terrible conflict, and the parties are not yet able to give the particulars of the affair. it Danger in Coughs. nigh isa source of r to all. RUSHING TO DEATH in the attempt to swim the Niagara Whirlpool Rapids is no more reckless or dangerous than to trifle with disease which each ond secures a stronger hold and hastens erendic life. This is specially true of rheumastism, neuralgia, nontad and nervous headache, which though perhaps slight at first are ex- tremely firmer dangerous, and steadily secure a gtip until at last the agony is unen- durable and sudden death brings relief. These diseases can be cured by the use of Athlophoros which, in connection with Athlophoros Pills, never fails when prop- erly used. Read the following from those who have tested it. John S. Kennedy, Spearville, Kansas, says: “Nearly two years ago, four bottles of Athlophoros cured me of rheumatism, and I have had no return of the old com- plaint since.” Mrs. A Newton, wife of ex-Mayor New- ton, Des Moines, Icwa, says: “I had been a great sufferer for years, and had re- sorted to many remedies, but nothing would do what Athlophoros did for me. Athlophoros took the stiffness out of the joints of my fingers, which I had been troubled with so long.” Murray J. Cochran, Denison, Iowa, says: “ Tt is now two years since I used Athlopho- ros, and I have had no rheumatism since. At the time I used this medicine I wascrip- pled so that I had touse crutches. My knees were swollen so that I had to cut my pants in order to wear them; my arms were stiff at the elbows; part of the time I could not feed myself. While in this condition, I was advised to take Athlophoros; which I did. After using a few bottles, I was completely cured.
