A pleas- ant and exhilerating drive of an hour and a half, through one of the most} tertile localities west of the Missis- sipp!, brought the party Hamilton’s fine farm, which consists of 1,340 acres of.as good land as can be found 2 in any county. An elegant dinner was found in waiting, and, atter eating a little rock candy, pro- duced from the pocket of one who shall be nameless here, full and ample justice was done to it. After dinner Mr. Hami'ton kindly showed the party over his farm and explained his mode ot raising blooded cattle. He has, as was stated above, 1,340 acres of the finest land to be found anywhere, situated on a undulating prairie, threaded by silvery streams and with belts of timber here | and there. this large farm has been sown in blue erass and is used for pasturing. The tarm is also well watered, hay- ing on it several wells and springs. The Butier gentlemen tasted water of one of the springs to the great surprise and consternation of their stomachs. On this extensive farm Mr. Hamilton has a litde me than 500 head ot blooded cattle. the value of which, as nearly as can be estimated, is $25.000. The d consists of 309 cross-bred Gulway cattle, 40 2-year-old cere te cows, 75 yearling heifers and earling bulls. He has 2c > young ft i and 100 more to drop. Mr. keeps for breeding purposes; several of which are of the Galway stock and were imported Fy himselt from | Scotland.
