E, Felter, and Belle Fel- About seven o’clock last evening a cyclone struck the north part of the city ot Rochester, Minnesota, mak- ing a clean sweep. The elevators, residences, railroad engine house, and other property along the rail- road was completely demolished. Mayor Whitten telegraphs that twenty-four were killed and torty wounded. The city is in need of clothing, food and assistance. Among the killed are John M. Cole proprietor of the planing mills. Su- perintendent Saunders, of the Wino- na and St. Peter railway, telegraphs the list ot killed and wounded is hourly increasing. The destruction of the telegraph lines make it'difheult to get particulars. The storm swept the towns of Utica and St. Charles, in Winona county, Job Thornton was killed and several others injured. Reports from Dodge county indicate much damage, with loss otlife. No particulars are yet obtainable. May- or Ludwig, of Winona, with a corpse of surgeons, left for Rochester this morning. BLOWN PROM THE TRACK. Owatonna, Minn., August 22.— Meagre telegraphic advices were re- ceived here this morning of a terri- ble accident which occurred between Rochester and Zumbrota on the Ro- chester and northern division of the Chicago and Northwestern railway, by which about one hundred people were killed and wounded. The train wrecked was that which leaves Rochester about 4 p- m., arnving at Zumbrota about 6 p. m. it was caught ina severe wind and_ hail storm that prevailed in that vicinity between 4 and 6 o’clock in the even- ing, and while runnmg at a high rate ot speed was lifted from the rails.
