THE WEDDING DAY REVIVED. Mr. and Mrs- C, T- McFarland Celebrate The 2d Anniversary of Their Wedding. Wednesday. March 22nd, was the jecond anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. E- T. McFarland’s wedding day, ind desiring to recall the event and he happy }, they celebrated the occasion in| ppropriate manne he assistance of some friends who jave been very near and dear to them | and | results that have come of ast evening with juring the intervening years, ven prior to the marital relation. | n our opinion truc friendship is a prighter jewel than the sparkling diamond, of far greater value and is appreciated the more by us. With =gil our sins of commission and omnis- sion we at least hope the world will not judge us of infidelity toward our friends. Mary young people think the oc casion which revives the marriage | hour n« » replete of happiness as the event itself. This is an crron- eous idea to which none but those who haye had experience can bear competent testimony. True it is, fate (we know of no better word) associates m incongenial nature- in wedlock. from which no good | ever comes, instead. But we toward a field irrelevant to the occa find ourselyes wandering sion at least if not the subject, and hasten back to where we left oft. There were present last evening | about fifty persons, and if the host | and hostess are, permitted to judge, | they flatter themselves with the be- | lief that all enjoyed themselves unre- strained and to the fullest extent. For the many handsome and use- ful presents we are thankful indeed, but the spirit in which those presents | were and the universal ex- pressions of renewed friendship tor given, the tuture, gave encouragement, and | left impressions that will live and go down with us in the ‘grave. The following lines a beautiful book fiom Mrs. S. B. accompanied James: When in future, you look on this evening’s proffers Of tokens, of friendship, duty and love Some—will speak plainly of tullness of } cotfers Some—ot motives, pure and good, from above. But let none beguile you tnto believing, Any surpass this offer of mine, When other returns again, you’re reviv- ing, Keep thinking mine, the finest of fine. — Look kindly on ‘books’? blest souls of solace For earth's weary ones lie hidden with- in, Kindly! more kindly, tor in cottage or palace Nothing more permanent pleasure can win. So while books vour second anniversary greet; Keep one smile brightest, and for them | set apart, For as near to a printer, and almost as) sweet As the wife ot his bosom—lies his art.
