AT THE MOVIES | ‘Astaire Flanked by _|Powell’s New Role ' Burns, Allen in Hit} Is Laugh-Provoking Love, Wrics and laughter are com- bined in Fred Astaire’s new starring film with George Burns and Gracie Allen, “A Damsel in Distress,” which features Gershwin songs, spectacular dance routines and a P. G. Wodehouse story. This pictures is today’s fea- ture at the Capitol theatre. A complicated romance between a bighly-publicized American dancer ard a tilted English girl trying to svoid a loveless marriage comprises the theme of the story. The compli- cations enter when not only the friends and relatives of the pair take sides in the matter, but the servants at the girl's castle also try to influence the pair. These factors all bring about many side-splitting comedy situations with the catchy song numbers and Astaire’s novel dancing rountines. Much of the offering was filmed in # huge recon- struction of an old Tudor castle. George Burns and Gracie Allen, whose comedy talents have made them famous to millions of film pa- trons and radio share billing honors with Astaire. Joan Fontaine heads the featured cast in the title role.
