Pandro S. Berman selected as director Gregory La Cava, who di- rected the smash hit “My Man God- frey.” The action of “Stage Door” takes place in a typical New York theatrical boarding house, in a smart, night club, in the offices of a Broad-’ way producer, in the palatial home of @ society leader, and in a New York theatre on the opening night of a show. Fifteen newcomers to the screen are given unusual opportunities in “Stage Door” in the roles of the struggling aspirants for fame who live in the boarding house. Each girl was care- fully chosen by La Cava and each “bit” role was as carefully developed es.if it were a stellar part. garage.” MOVIES Old Mill in Storm Symphony Setting An old deserted windmill, shaken by a wind and rain storm is the back- ground for the first Walt Disney Silly Symphony to be released by RKO Ra- dio. A new troupe of Disney wild life is tevealed scampering for safety amid the rafters and cogs of the mill ma- chinery to await the storm’s ending and the first warming streak of morn- ing sunlight. “The Old Mill,” in addition to its eerie background and striking con- trast of the raging elements, with its small inhabitants—owls, bats, crickets and birds—offers the first Disney pro- duction to be filmed in the new multi-plane camera process. This remarkable Disney technique gives the screen a new illusion of depth. Following a night of terror in the ‘mill, during which the lighting and wind storm threaten destruction, morning dawns on a quiet, peaceful scene, “The Old Mill,” photographed en- tirely in Technicolor, is said to be one of the most alluring and enterain- ing Disney subjects made to date. You might think nothing goes on in an old deserted windmill during a terrific lightning and thunder storm at night, but Mr. Disney knows and shows us differently in his latest Silly Symphony production, “The Old Mill,” showing at the Capiol theatre, last times today.
