CCC Collects Seed To Battle Erosion Washington, Oct. 22.—(?)—Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees now are harvesting 1,500,000 pounds of tree and shrub seed and 700,000 pounds of native grass seed to carry on next season's fight against soil erosion. H, H. Bennett, Soil Conservation Service chief, said Friday collections are being made by most of the 374 CCC camps assigned to the service, under the direction of soil conserva- tion technicians. States west of the Mississippi expected to produce and use nearly all of the native grass seed collected. Plantings will be heaviest in Southern Great Plains states to com- bat wind erosion.
