MEDIGAL SCHOOL'S RANKING PARTIALLY RESTORED BY A... Standing of Education Unit of University Dependent on Finances Grand Forks, N. D., June 10—(7)— Temporary and partial restoration of standing was granted to the Uni- versity of North Dakota medical school at the American Medical as- sociation meeting in Atlantic City, according to word received here. Reinstatement on the approved lst will depend on financial support given the school. The same provision was made for the South Dakota uni- versity medical school also removed from the list last February. Both are still not approved, but medical students entering last fall and again this coming fall will be able, after two years study, to trans- fer to other medical schools to com- plete their training. This they could not do ordinarily unless the schools were on the approved list. Pres. John C. West of the university *said this meant that stipulations laid down by the special examining com- mittee of the national association in February, would be met satisfactorily through increased legislative appro- priations for the school. Reinstate- ent to an accredited rating is con- ditional on continuance of financial support, he emphasized. A class of 30 freshmen entering next fall will be selected on a basis of the medical aptitude test, together with advice and approval of the state board of medical examiners. In- adequate quarters, understaffed fa- culty and obsolete equipment were listed as reasons for removal from the approved list. sf Minot Briquet Plant Will Open on July 1 Minot, N.
