Softball league race chalked up its first win of the season over the Knights of Columbus aggregation, 9 to 8, in a makeup game played Mon- day night. White, president of the Northern Baseball League, strongly Qbjected to a move to transfer or sell the Jamestown, N. D. franchise, re- ported pending, “The Northern League would offer strong opposition to any sale of the Jamestown franchise,” White said, “during the present playing season, as such a transfer would undoubtedly upset the league schedule of games.” He indicated the directors would be asked to consider the matter. “The league has not been acquaint- ed with any details concerning the proposed change,” the president said, “and could make no definite decision until the proposal could be brought before the league directors, who, un- der the league bylaws, are empowered to supervise such changes. “The directors are also empowered to declare a franchise forfeited, for any cause which may be deemed det- rimental to the league, and take over the club and operate it as they see fit for the balance of the season.
