Fort Yates Indian Play Will ‘Be Presented Here Thursda: * Peale With Indian Life 100 National Officer Years Ago; Has Been Called Fine Production ‘The Indian play, “Cry of the Lone Eagle” under the sponsorship of the B. P. W. club, will be presented Thurs- day afternoon and Thursday evening at 8:15 o'clock in the city auditorium. ‘The proceeds will go to Camp Gras- éick. The play was written by Mrs. ¥rank Fiske, Fort Yates, and is play- ' ed by Fort Yates people. The cast end players are as follows: Lone Eagle, a young warrior, Emmet La- ¥Framboise; Brown Owl, an aged In- dian, Frank Fiske; Graywind, his wife, Hermina Carignan; Long Sol- 3 dier, their son, Emmett La Fram- ‘ boise; Rosebud, their daughter, Doro- } thy Hokenson; Yellowbird, their youngest daughter, Marjorie Hokan- 60n; Antelope, young chief of the tribe, William White; Redtrack, his wife, Florienne La Framboise; and Fireheart, a warrior, Jasper Porter. ‘The play is laid in the past, 100 ears ago, when the Sioux Indians med through western North Dako- ta. Rosebud and Lone Eagle are lov- ets. Before leaving on the warpath, he sings to her. He is killed in bat- Hie but his spirit returns. Chief Ante- lope, already married, wants Rosebud for his second wife. He is powerful, @aring and beloved by his people. Real Indian humor is brought out in the éituations between the old man, Brown Owl, and his wife, Graywind, who quarrel] but are still steadfast to each other. Yellowbird, their daughter, has her own love affair. Red Track, Chief Antelope’s first wife, brings to the stage a character torn by love, jealousy and devoted obedience to er “lord and master.” The stage setting is colorful with Indian tepees, campfires and other Peonrerneus of Indian one oe ere jan dancing and The umes. games, all in the manner of the old Rly dined avhiapieed tragernsay vid days when the Indian was a true child| gian ceremonial dances are featured Mrs, Sybil Gordon Newell, New York City, executive sec- retary of the Girl Scout national field division, will be in Bismarck May 17-19 to attend the Hiawa- tha regional conference.
