aaa EERIS HI g ay " University Quint Must age until they hatch. It takes no DEMONS ENTERTAN MAGICIANS, SAINTS ~ PLAY BRAVES HERE Win Three Games to Clinch Conference Bunting CLASS A FOES TO TANGLE Four Games Booked in State College Conference as Season's End Nears North Dakota and North Central Conference basketball fans will turn their eyes toward Grand Forks this week-end where Clem Letich’s Uni- versity of North Dakota Sioux and Bob Lowe's Agricultural college Bison clash Friday and Saturday nights in the first of the annual four-game ser- ies that will have an important bear- ing on the loop championship. For the fourth consecutive year, the Herd remains as the final hurdle in the path of the thrice-champion Nodaks, needing three victories in the unpredictable four-game series to clinch the conference bunting. From the interested spectator stand- point, probably nobody tops the Morningside Maroons, firmly en- trenched with the Bison in second place and with a good chance to cop the title should the university club drop more than one game to the downstaters. Maroons in Good Spot Barring upsets, the Maroons should wind up their conference schedule ‘with only the defeat two weeks ago by the Sioux to mar a fine record in loop play. If the Sioux should break even ‘with the Bison in the four-game ser- jes and the Maroons maintain their winnning stride throughout the re- mainder of the loop schedule, Morn- ingside would finish a scant 13 per- centage points ahead of the North Dakota quint by virtue of having played one more game in the confer- ence. Overshadowed somewhat by the Bioux-Bison clash, but nevertheless containing plenty of appeal for fol- lowers of the high’ school cage for- tunes, are several important Class A contests, including Minot’s invasion of Bismarck and Mandan this week-end. Coach Harley Robertson's Magicians ‘will play a return game with Glen anna’s Demons Friday night and cross the Missouri to tangle with Leonard McMahan’s Braves Saturday. Sports Round-Up By SCOTTY RESTON New York, Feb, 15.—(?)—The Cleve- land Indians can probably get Lou Gehrig from the Yankees right now if they want to give up Hal Trosky for him. . . The one- tenth can be melted easily enough, but the nine-tenths may roll over and bounce Lou right off the club. .. Explaining this record, the fans say the -victory complex of the football squad has merely spread to basketball, and MacMillan gets little credit. ..
