F ight Paralysis The president’s annual ball is one of the most worthwhile charity events of the season, its net proceeds going toward the national bat- tle on infantile paralysis and to assist local crippled children. Thirty per cent of the net proceeds goes to the research fund against in- fantile paralysis, not directly for maintenance of the hospital at Warm Springs, Ga. The need for the battle against paralysis is apparent to everyone. This dread disease cares not when it strikes its victims, whether they be children or mature. Build Local F und Not only will 70 per cent of the net pro- ceeds be kept at home for local work, but this fund can be matched dollar for dollar with fed- eral funds. A movement is on foot now to have proceeds from all 62 birthday balls in the state pooled into one state fund for matching pur- poses. North Dakota could receive as much as $29,222.60 additional, since this much in fed- eral funds is available for such matching.
